Abstract

Leadership For Change (LFC) program of the International Council
of Nurses was implemented in Vietnam from 2004 to 2014. The aim of the program
was equipping Vietnamese nurse leaders with the necessary leadership-management
skills to meet responding to the constantly changing economic and social environment
and health reform through improved nursing practice, which contributes to better
health of the population.
5 LFC training programs conducted in 10 years and produced 302 participants, of
whom 28 were trained as trainers. Trainees have completed 49 quality improvement
projects at the facility where they worked. Quality improvement topics were relevant
and valuable to health care facilities and nursing education institutions, its focus
on the following six topics: strengthening nursing management capacity, infection
prevention and control, strengthening the capacity of health education for patients,
strengthening nursing education management and Communication to enhance the
image of nursing profession
