SYNTHESIS OF Fe3O4/SiO2 ADSORBENT FOR REMOVAL OF Cr(VI) IN WASTEWATER

Abstract

Cr(VI) is one of the heavy metal ions in wastewater affecting human health, so it should be treated thoroughly. Besides the usual precipitation method, the adsorption method has many advantages for removal of Cr(VI). In this study, adsorbent Fe3O4/SiO2 was synthesized by pyrolysizing Fe(NO3)3 in solvents C2H5OH, CH3COOH and mesopore support SiO2. It can adsorp Cr(VI) in wastewater efficiently at low pH around 2.5.
