Situation of clean water management and environmental sanitation of some schools in Lao Cai in 2023

Abstract
This study provides some information about the current status of clean water management and environmental sanitation of some high schools in Lao Cai Province. The survey and information collection process was carried out at 15 schools in the district/town/city: Bat Xat, Sapa, Simacai, Lao Cai, Bac Ha. The study used a set of questionnaires to collect information with the following contents clean water, toilets, hand hygiene, environmental sanitation, and waste. Research results show that in terms of clean water, primary schools do not meet the quality of clean water and provide enough clean water for students, while secondary and high schools only have 20 % meeting the requirements. Regarding toilets, the number of toilets and urinals is still lacking (33.3 %), the toilet has a bad smell or has stagnant feces/urine or water on the floor, or lacks waste containers. Waste is still high (rate reached 26.7 %). Regarding waste, most schools have not done a good job of classifying waste (6.7 %) and transporting and treating waste (13.3 %). Regarding hand hygiene in schools, only 20 % of students at schools are good at washing their hands at the correct times as prescribed, such as before eating, after going to the toilet, and after playing. Regarding environmental sanitation, the majority of schools perform well, 100 % of schools conducting surveys perform well on school campus sanitation, and 100 % of primary and secondary schools perform well on sanitation. classrooms and function rooms.
