Abstract

This paper presents the results of applying the MIKE 21 Couple model to simulate the hydrodynamic regime of the Gianh River estuary. The study used data series of the dry and flood seasons in 2016 to calibrate and verify the model. After selecting a set of model parameters, the hydrodynamic regime was simulated with 2 different groups of scenarios. The simulation results show that the hydrodynamic regime of the Gianh River estuary fluctuates strongly during the Northeast monsoon period, and fluctuates less during the Southwest monsoon season. The wave height during the Northeast monsoon period is large during the Southwest monsoon period, and the flow velocity at the Gianh River estuary depends mainly on the influence of the tide.
