Abstract

Drought is a weather-related natural disaster, occurring in almost of climatic regions. It is based on the integration of specific physical, ecological and socio-economic characteristics of the region. Compared with other types of natural disasters, droughts develop slowly but often exist for a long time, affecting the economy of many areas as well as human activities. The growth of population has increased water demand for domestic use, farming and urban development, leading to drought and water shortage. Drought extremely affects the social economy, especially water resources and agricultural production.
