Abstract
The study aims to assess the current status and analyze land use trends from 2010 to 2020 in Hoc Mon district, Ho Chi Minh city. The research methods include collecting, synthesizing and analyzing, processing data and documents; Field survey method and comparative method to clarify the trend of land use restructuring in Hoc Mon district. The results show that the agricultural land area of Hoc Mon has decreased sharply, from 6,855.57 ha (2010) to 1,200 ha (2020) and agricultural activities focus mainly on production models with high economic efficiency. In contrast, the area of non-agricultural land increased sharply from 4,699.01 ha (20210) to 9,743.37 ha (2020). In which, residential land occupies the largest area of 4,782.71 ha. Regarding the difficulties and problems in the process of changing the land use purpose, there are still many problems such as the handling of violations in land use, handling of land complaints. In particular, the novelty of the study clarifies the importance of protecting wetlands locally. Thus, wetland conservation is an important goal but has not been mentioned in the district's land use planning. From the above results, a reasonable land use orientation is proposed to 2035.
