Current policies and strategies for digital rural development in China

Abstract

Amid the rapid progress of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the Communist Party of China
has introduced the vision of build a digital nation (digital China), with the ambition to become a global
digital power. Digital rural development is an important component of "digital China" and also a key
element in the rural revitalization strategy. China has set out a roadmap to implement the digital rural
strategy until 2035 and toward the mid-2st century, aiming to strongly promote the application of
breakthroughs in science and technology, digital technology, artificial intelligence (AI), big data... in
economic development, agricultural production and social governance in rural areas. The article analyzes
the policies and strategies as well as the roadmap for implementing the construction and advancing of
digital rural development in China today, thereby offering some implications for Vietnam.
