Abstract
Quang Ngai is a coastal province located in the South Central Coast of Viet
Nam with a 130-kilometer coastline. Data collected from Dung Quat, Binh Chau coasts shows
that these are safe places for ships to anchor off and avoid storms. These places are also at
a strategic location on a trade route through the East Sea. There are some excavations of
ancient shipwrecks such as Chau Tan, Binh Chau, Dung Quat dating back to IX - XVII centuries
in this region. In 2018 - 2019, the Institute of Archeology hosted an international cooperation
program to conduct archaeological surveys in the coast of Binh Chau and Dung Quat and
discovered many locations related to those shipwrecks.
