Abstract

Women workers have an important role in the development of the economy and their employment opportunities are increasingly expanding. Combining the descriptive statistics, logit model and multi-logistic model, this study examines employment status and factors affecting the female labor force in rural areas of Phu Vang district. The results indicate that many women workers are unemployed. Having young children and having support from remittances reduces the employment rate of rural women in the Phu Vang district, while female workers participating in job creation programs are more likely to find jobs. Age, large land area and large-scale capital also have a certain influence on their employment choices. The findings suggest several policy implications for conducting employment programs for female workers in rural areas, disseminating and educating people about gender equality as well as production loan policies to create job opportunities for rural female workers in Phu Vang.
