Abstract

Like Vietnamese communal houses in general, those in the South Central region are important traditional cultural institutions of village communities, reflecting their historical evolution. These communal houses have deeply permeated the collective consciousness of countless generations, embodying a profound and enduring cultural value, including their architectural significance. This article clarifies the fundamental aspects of the architecture of communal houses in the South Central region, specifically: (1) the overall architecture, including location, landscape, scale, and layout; and (2) the style and structural design of central buildings such as the main hall and rear shrine.
