Ethnicity and nationalism: Concept and approach from international research

Abstract

There are many concepts of ethnicity and nationalism with variety of approaches in international researches. This article analyzes concepts from theoretical perspectives and approaches such as the primordialist school, culturalist perspective, the constructionist school, social constructionist perspective, the instrumentalist school, an integrated approach and the trend of ethnic research in recent time. In addition, the article analyzes the views of international researchers on nationalism, explaining the complicated changes and trends of nationalism in the current context of internationalization. The results confirm that it is necessary to consolidate the power of great national unity and to continuously enhance national potentials and strength in the context of international integration.
