Factors affecting the income of households in coastal aquaculture in Thang Binh district, Quang Nam province

Abstract

Using econometric methods, the paper quantifies the factors affecting the household income in coastal aquaculture in Thang Binh district, Quang Nam province. The results show that the coastal aquaculture farming economy in Thang Binh district is highly pure and significantly influenced by factors associated with fishery activities such as the level of equipments and technical skills, the production techniques, the passion for the job, the quality of breeds and water sources, the number of aerators and the level of infrastructure. Factors of production scale such as area of farming, number of crops in a year, the rearing canvas, and
the number of water pumps have an influence on increasing revenue of aquaculture but have no significant impact on household income. The results of this study enables us to suggest some policy implications to incre a se household income in aquaculture in coastal areas of Thang Binh district, Quang Nam province in the near future.
