The current situation of labor productivity in Da Nang during 2010 - 2019

Abstract

This study is to focus on analysing and evaluating the current situation of labor productivity in Da Nang during the period of 2010 - 2019, then proposing solutions to progress in the coming years. Over the 10-year period, the city’s labor productivity increased by 2.34 times (at current prices) compared to 2010, estimated nearly 1.8 times higher than the whole country’s average labor productivity. However, during this period, Da Nang’s labor productivity improvement percentage is considered to reach only the medium scale (at the average of 8.19%/ year), approximately the national one. The growth rate of annual labor productivity is quite low in the city’s key economic sectors, such as Transportation and storage (1.15%); Information and communication (3.48%); Accommodation and catering services (5.08%), as well as non-state economic sectors (3.46%). That is one of the main reasons hindering the city’s labor productivity. Therefore, it is critical for the city to build a master strategy, focusing on allocating and utilizing efficiently the resources to enhance the growth rate of city’s labor productivity in the coming years.
