Abstract

Each ethnic group in Vietnam has their own cultural, religous, and aethetic characteristics embedded in their traditional costumes, style, material, and especially the fabric patterns. In the M’nong ethics’ physical and spiritual life, their patterns represent not only their unique arts but also their spiritual viewpoints, beliefs, as well as their aspiration for a peaceful life and positive interactions with nature. By motifs and images imitated and stylized in life, M’nong people have created a pattern system, which demonstrates their unique characters. The system has made a significant contribution to maintaining and preserving their local knowledge, cultural characters, developmental history, and their cultural interactions with other groups.
