Socio-economic policies of the Nguyen dynasty towards Cambodia in the first half of the 19th century

Abstract

Under historical and logical methods, the article focuses on clarifying the
Nguyen Dynasty’s policies that have given priority to the Government of Cambodia’s socioeconomic sectors as Viet Nam’s protectorate in the first half of the 19th century. Based on research findings, the article identifies that the Nguyen Dynasty’s diplomatic relations with
Cambodia are aimed at maintaining its national security and preserving its territorial integrity
as well as sovereignty in the context of power disputes between the Nguyen Dynasty and the
Bangkok Government in the region.
