The Giay people’s local knowledge in the exploitation, utilization, and protection of forest resources

Abstract

This article explores the Giay people’s local knowledge relating to
forest utilization and protection in Lang Giang commune, Van Ban district, Lao Cai province.
Accordingly, the authors suggest to local administrators and the Giay community how to
effectively employ their knowledge in forest exploitation, use, and protection, improving their
quality of life and livelihood as well as disseminating and preserving their traditional culture
in the region.
