Quang Nam in Dai Viet’s journey to the South

Abstract
The ancient Quang Nam, which used to belong to Viet Thuong, was a part of
Tuong Lam in the Qin - Han dynasties, owned by Lam Ap in the Tan - Duong dynasties, and
was later included in Champa. Since the second year of Hong Duc, Quang Nam became the
13th administrative unit of Dai Viet. With a long history, Quang Nam has proved its critical role
in the development of Dai Viet. Taking a historical and socio-economic approach, the article
focuses on clarifying Dai Viet’s journey to the South and the role of Quang Nam in Dai Viet’s
expansion.
