Abstract
Community-based rural tourism is a type of tourism that brings sustainable
socio-economic benefits for local people. The article uses data collected from 281 tourists
in Quang Binh and Nghe An in August 2019 to examine factors affecting their selection of a
rural community-based tourist destination and its products in the Northern Central region.
The research results indicate that tourists’ destination choice depends on six groups of factors
including: (1) The motive for socializing and relaxing; (2) The motivation for exploring; (3)
Expense at the rural tourism destination; (4) Information access at the rural tourism destination;
(5) Typical products of the rural tourism destination, and (6) Destination environmental
management.
