Small and medium enterprises development in the Central key economic region of Viet Nam

Abstract
By the end of 2019, the Central key economic region of Viet Nam has 38.3
thousand enterprises that had reported on their business, of which 97.94% are SMEs.
Although SMEs in the region have made significant progress in contributing to localities’
socio-economic development, but the development of SMEs in the region still faces a number
of certain limitations. This paper uses qualitative and quantitative analysis methods to analyze
the current situation of SMEs development in the Central key economic region of Viet Nam;
quantifies factors affecting the performance of SMEs; on that basis, proposes important
solutions to sustainably develop the region’s SMEs in the new context.
