Abstract

Applying Eric O. Hanson’s theory on religion in international relations, the article finds out the challenges to the current process of religious transformation in Southeast Asia. Through secondary data, the paper assesses the changing global religious landscape, diversity of regional religions, political and religious forms of each country. On these basis elements, the article analyzes and clarifies some special problems of religious extremism, politicization of religion, the right to religious freedom which are challenging factors for the religious conversion.
