Assessment of the adsorption capacity metal ions in wastewater of graphene oxide/ magnetite/chitosan materials
Abstract
In this study, nanocomposite GO/Fe3O4/CS (GFC) was prepared for adsorption of heavy metals like Cd2+, Ni2+, CrO42- in the aquatic environment. Some conditions that are effective to the removal of Cd2+, Ni2+, CrO42- by adsorption process using the GFC material including pH, contact time and initial concentration of the metal ions were systematically studied. The optimized pH for removal Cd2+, Ni2+, CrO42- for GFC was 6.0, 5.0, 3.5, respectively. The contact time was 50 min. The adsorption mechanism of GFC composite material was well described by Langmuir isotherm with a maximum adsorption capacity (qmax) for Cd2+, Ni2+, CrO42- of 8.123, 30.96, 40 mg/g, respectively, and pseudo-second-order kinetic model was well fited for the adsorption mechanism, which implied that the uptake of Cd2+, Ni2+, CrO42- onto GFC following a chemical adsorption.Downloads
