Abstract

Background: Life expectancy increases, thyroid cancer has time to metastasize, invade, cause disability, death before death due to old age. Radical surgery becomes necessary to prolong and quality of life. Objectives: (1) To study the clinical, subclinical and pathological characteristics of thyroid cancer in people from 60 years old. (2) To study the results of thyroid cancer surgery in people from 60 years old and up. Methodology: Retrospective, descriptive study, people from 60 year - old with thyroid cancer treated by surgery. Results: 42 cases in this study, male/female ratio was 1/3.3. Primary symptoms cases were neck tumors - 92.8%, the rate of lymph node metastasis was 15.6%, mainly papillary cancer was 83.3%. The rate of TIRADS 4 was 63.3% and TIRADS 5 was 23.3%. The average length of hospital stay was 06 days. Good postoperative results were achieved for 83.3% (discharge of hospital), 80% (after 12 months). Conclusion: the proportion from 60 years old is popular. Neck tumor is a common symptom. The treatment results are relatively good.
