Korean and Vietnamese are languages that share a large number of words originating, or borrowed
from Chinese. However, due to social and cultural conditions as well as many other factors, there are many transformations of the original Chinese vocabularies of the two languages in terms of characters and meaning. This study divides Sino-Vietnamese and Sino-Korean into two groups: homosynonym (同型同義) and homograph
(同型不同義) in order to analyse and compare the similarity and difference between them in terms of meaning. As a result of that, the study can facilitate and make learning Korean easier by helping learners identifying common characteristics between Korean and Vietnamese languages
