A gamma assay technique for determination of activity in waste drums is proposed. The assumption of this technique is that the sample activity concentrates as a point source, and the sample matrix is uniform in a segment. Calculation results show that the accuracy of this technique is better than that of the traditional Segmented Gamma Scanning technique for mostcases where the mixture of activity and matrix is nonuniform.
