Methods for inoculum production of some nitrifying, denitriryinll bacteria were experimented. Nitrification and denitrification activities of obtained bacteria in both suspended andattached growth were determined. A treatment system of pilot scale was constructed and operated. At flow rate of 6m3/day from underground water containing 15 mg N/l, ammonium and nitrite were absolutely removedand the remained NO3 was lower than allowed standard.
