Fracturing rock using liquid carbon dioxide technology and its application prospects in underground coal mines in Quang Ninh region

Abstract

The technology of breaking coal and rock without using explosives has been researched and applied strongly in China. Among the non-blasting technologies being applied, technology using liquid CO₂ is "an ideal solution for particularly complex environments" according to the China Explosives Association[1]. Through the analysis and synthesis research methods of documents, this paper clarifies the technological characteristics, experimental results in the fields of underground coal mining, and solutions when breaking rock and coal with liquid CO₂. In addition, the prospect of applying the this technology in underground coal mining in Quang Ninh coal region was also discussed.
