Interdisciplinary integrated educational measures through teaching the geometry and measurement content strand in grade 3

Abstract

One of the four perspectives in the development of the 2018 Mathematics curriculum emphasizes the need to ensure integration and differentiation. The general objective of the general education curriculum for Mathematics addresses the development of problem-solving abilities that integrate mathematics with other subjects. However, it is evident that, alongside the advantages, teachers also face many challenges in organizing integrated teaching across subjects. Specifically, it raises the question of how to teach the concepts of Geometry and Measurement in primary school, particularly in grade 3, to reflect this interdisciplinary integration perspective. This article focuses on analyzing the current state of integrated teaching in the area of Geometry and Measurement for grade 3, and subsequently proposes several measures to enhance teachers' understanding and skills in organizing integrated teaching for primary school educators.
