Influence of the anti-tax movement in Quang Nam in 1908 on Vietnam’s central provinces
Abstract
Faced with the oppression and brutal exploitation of the French colonialists, the people of Dai Loc district (Quang Nam province) "revolted" against taxes. From Quang Nam, the anti-tax "fire" quickly spread throughout the Central provinces, creating a strong and fierce struggle movement with an unprecedented scale and method, frightening the French colonialists and the henchmen forces. Therefore, research on the influence of the anti-tax movement in Quang Nam in 1908 on the Central provinces will contribute to identifying the patriotic movement in Vietnam as well as clarifying the position and role of Quang Nam in the struggle against French colonialism in the early years of the twentieth century.
