Abstract

In the initial phase of the resistance war against the U.S in the South (1954 - 1964), the revolutionary medical force was maintained, revitalised, and progressively evolved into two distinct entities: Military Medicine and Civilian Medicine. The medical sector in the South was progressively strengthened through the assistance of medical teams from the Northern rear. This article utilises archival sources and secondary documents to elucidate the evolution of the revolutionary medical force in the South from 1954 to 1964 during the resistance war against the US. It further derives lessons pertinent to the advancement of the health system within the context of the resistance war.
