Abstract

People's health status, treatment and use of health insurance are related to gender and place of residence. Results drawn from survey of 1,000 households and in-depth interviews in Dong Nai province in 2024 showed that: women self-reported chronic diseases more than men; when being sick, people often bought medicine themselves or sought medical treatment at public health facilities, in which people in urban areas used public health facilities more than those in rural areas; women bought and used health insurance more than men. Most people are satisfied with health services. However, the majority of people bought their medicine and did not use or rarely used health insurance raising policy implications to improve this situation.
