Abstract

Based on qualitative data collected by in-depth interviews, ethnographic fieldwork, the article outlines the forms of gender-based violence that transgender women are facing as well as going into the individual dimension to point out the phenomenon of internalizing socio-cultural gender norms as a factor that causes transgender women to become victims of gender-based violence voluntarily. On that basis, the article proposes the next research direction to find the optimal solution to mitigate this situation.
