Abstract

The article analyses quantitative data from a questionnaire survey of 203 male motorbike taxi drivers in Ho Chi Minh City conducted between January and March 2021, alongside qualitative data from in-depth interviews with 20 drivers from Grab, Gojek, and Baemin platforms, carried out by the research team in March and April 2024. Utilising the five criteria of fair work-fair pay, fair conditions, fair contracts, fair management, and fair representation-the article illustrates the current employment situation and highlights the deficiencies in fair work. Subsequently, it presents policy recommendations addressing urgent issues to enhance fair work for this workforce, thereby contributing to the national program on decent work for the period 2022-2026 in Vietnam.
