This article analyzes linguistic elements and cultural characteristics related to gender roles, stereotypes, and social expectations to explain the differences in gender representations in jokes. The research findings elucidate the similarities and differences in language, culture, and cognition between the peoples of England and Vietnam, offering practical implications for foreign language education, translation, and intercultural communication. This study examines the comparison between expressive language in English jokes and Vietnamese jokes as well as highlights the linguistic and cultural nuances that differentiate humor in these two languages.
