INDIA’S POSITION AND STRATEGIC CHOICES IN THE CURRENT GLOBAL CONTEXT

Abstract

In a global context marked by complex fluctuations in the distribution and balance of power, the global order is in a "transitional" phase, shifting from unipolarity to multipolarity. In this context, India has emerged as a crucial player, prepared to take on the responsibility of addressing global issues (Sullivan de Estrada, 2023).This highlights the significance of studying India's position and role as a crucial element in shaping the “Asian century”. Based on historical research and policy analysis, the article concludes that: India currently has strategic choices to define its story based on the country's civilizational values, strategic culture, and comprehensive strength; (ii) This strategic decision positions India as a stabilizing force in the current global context, helping to shape the balance of power in a more equitable and balanced manner.
