Abstract

During the 17th century, diplomatic relations between Dai Viet and the Ming Dynasty experienced significant changes, particularly under the Le Trung Hung Dynasty. Amid numerous domestic challenges, particularly the lingering influence of the Mac Dynasty in the North and the rising power of the Nguyen Lord in the South, the Le Trung Hung Dynasty prioritized the affirmation of legitimacy in its governance of the country. The article presents an overview of the diplomatic relations between the Le Trung Hung Dynasty and the Ming Dynasty in the late 16th century and the first half of the 17th century, and introduces in detail the diplomatic mission to the Ming Dynasty in 1637 by Chief Envoy Nguyen Duy Hieu and Giang Van Minh. This affirms the country's position and consolidates the diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China during this period.
