Abstract
The sense of belonging to a destination has a positive influence on migrants’ intention to settle permanently in their new place of residence. Based on both quantitative and qualitative data collected in 2022, this study analyzes the motivations and settlement tendencies of the Cham Muslim community from An Giang Province who migrated to Cu Chi Commune, Ho Chi Minh City. The findings reveal that stable employment and income, the guarantee of religious practice, and positive relationships with the host community contribute to the Cham migrants’ satisfaction with their current life at the destination. These factors collectively foster a sense of belonging that encourages them to remain in Cu Chi commune for the long term and regard it as their second homeland.
