Abstract

This article applies Systemic Functional Linguistics in combination with Visual Grammar and the Image-Text Relation System to propose an approach to analyzing the ideational meaning in Vietnamese political propaganda posters during the anti-French resistance war (1946 - 1954) from a multimodal discourse perspective. The article specifically seeks to elucidate the meaning-making process and message-conveying capacity of Vietnamese political propaganda paintings, thereby aiding in the clarification of the propaganda's significance within the framework of the Vietnam’s resistance war.
