MEDIUMSHIP IN THE PRACTICE OF MOTHER GODDESS WORSHIP (THỜ MẪU) OF VIETNAMESE PEOPLE IN ĐÀ LẠT CITY, LÂM ĐỒNG PROVINCE

Abstract

“Hau hoi” is one of two forms of existing mediumship practices related to the beliefs in the Mother Goddess worship of Vietnamese people in Da Lat. This ceremony practiced by Sprit Mediums who are born in Hue or in the central provinces migrated to Da Lat during different historical periods. The article focuses on understanding the characteristics of “Hau hoi” and outlines some positive and negative effects of this ritual in the spiritual life of a part of the Viet people in Da Lat, Lam Dong.
