POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY OF MICHAEL SANDEL: COMMUNITARIANISM OR CLASSICAL REPUBLICANISM
Keywords:
Abstract
Communitarianism is one of the famous political philosophy movements in the West, which has flourished in the United States and Canada but is still quite new in Vietnam. Through the study and analysis of M. Sandel's political philosophy, this article focuses on analyzing the theoretical limitations of Communitarianism as well as the reasons why M. Sandel refused to be labeled as Communitarianism and developed the theory of ‘classical’ Civil Republicanism. Finally, the article points out that the modern republicanism that M. Sandel asserted still has many unclear points. The article has certain contributions to help researchers distinguish Sandel's political stance, provide and analyze the basic contents of contemporary Western community political philosophy, on the relationships between the individual and the community, justice and the good, ethics and politics.
