Abstract

The country poems in ancient Vietnam had two worlds coexisting side by side: the “boring world”; and the “happy world”. These two worlds have a dialectical relationship with each other, creating the artistic characteristics and social meaning for the poetic works composed in Nom script by many great poets of Vietnam. The article explores the expression of these two worlds in the poetry of typical poets: Nguyen Trai, Nguyen Binh Khiem and Nguyen Khuyen.
