VIEWS AND POLICIES OF VIETNAM AND ITS PARTY ON PREVENTING AND COMBATING TERRORISM IN THE PERIOD OF INTERNATIONAL INTEGRATION

Since 1986, The Communist Party of Vietnam determines that “Socioeconomic development is central, Party building is core, cultural development is the foundation of spirit of society; the guarantee of national defense and security is a key and regular task” (The Communist Party of Vietnam, 2021: 33-34). Regarding the defense of national security during the period of international integration, anti-terrorism is a fairly new and non-traditional issue yet been recognized by the Party and State in which their views and policies with leading, strategic and basic principles are demonstrated in a timely manner. This article outlines basic views and policies of the Party and State on preventing and combating terrorism (1991 to present) as an effort of Vietnam to positively and actively integrate into ASEAN and international community.
