Abstract
The matrilineal social structure of ethnic minorities within the Mon-Khmer linguistic group in the Central Highlands has been created and has endured for numerous millennia. Nevertheless, ethnographic study conducted on the ancestral lineage of the Chil community indicates that the matriarchal structure of their families has undergone transformation. This study examines the current characteristics and tendencies in the transformation of the matrilineal family structure among the Chil people, influenced by economic, political, and social factors. The study also examines the challenges that come from the transformation of the social structure of the matrilineal family, which significantly affects the efficacy of current resettlement efforts in the Central Highlands.
