Abstract

Don ca tai tu (Southern Amateur music) holds great cultural and historical importance in Vietnam and is recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. It is becoming increasingly difficult to preserve and promote this art form among the younger generation in the setting of fast urbanization and globalization, particularly in Bac Lieu province. The paper examines middle school pupils in Bac Lieu's present perceptions of amateur music and offers suggestions for educating and protecting the legacy of traditional cultural practices among the youth.
