Abstract

Three primary cultural relations currently exist in the Vietnam-China border, namely intra-ethnic, interethnic, and cross-border relations. Among them, the intra-ethnic ones are still under-researched. Based on the results of fieldwork studying the Tày, Nùng, Hmông, and Kinh ethnic groups in the border area, specifically Tà Lùng town, Quảng Hòa district, Cao Bằng province (2022-2023), as well as the author’s fieldwork data from the period 2019-2023 in other areas, the paper analyzes intra-ethnic cultural relations, thereby examining the impacts of the relations on preserving and bringing the cultural values of ethnic groups into play and developing the national culture in the Vietnam - China border area.
