Abstract

Bắc sứ thông lục (A Complete Record of an Envoy to the North) of Lê Quý Đôn was a “document” that systematically recorded the entire itinerary and activities of the envoy mission traveling to the Qing Dynasty for more than two years from 28 January, Metal Dragon year (1760) until the completion at the end of January, Water Horse year (1762). This article mainly aims to introduce some information about the envoy's trip to the Qing Dynasty in 1760, such as duties of envoy, preparations, welcome and see-off rituals, itinerary and results of the trip, etc. In particular, in the detailed itinerary of this envoy trip, Lạng Sơn was mentioned frequently during the preparation phase to cleared custom and welcome the mission back at the end of the trip. Restoring the main features of the envoy trip in 1760 and clarifying the imprints and role of the Lạng Sơn border area throughout the trip are also part of the main content of the article.
