Abstract

Throughout history, scientific and technological revolutions have profoundly and strongly impacted societal development, determining the status of nations worldwide. Science and technology are factors that help latecomer countries shorten the gap and even surpass developed countries. In the trend, any nation that values and boosts the application of science and technology achieves significant accomplishments in socio-economic development and, therefore, has its status elevated. In the process of building socialism, many countries, such as China, Vietnam, Laos..., have identified the sector of science and technology as a strategic spearhead for national development. This article aims to further clarify the awareness of a number of countries regarding the role of science and technology in building socialism, thereby pointing out some lessons for Vietnam.
