Abstract
This study selected 250 freshmen majoring in information technology at Hanoi University of Industry and Hòa Bình University as survey and experimental subjects to evaluate the participation of technology - majored freshmen in activities in English classes. The survey and experimental process lasted 10 weeks and used two data collection methods, namely observation and questionnaire. Data collected in the first phase show that the level of student participation in English lessons is low because of the teaching method and the diversity of experiences and personalities of students leading to differences in their attitudes and participation towards activities in English classes. This article applies a scoring method to evaluate students' level of participation in activities in English classes.
