The study was conducted to determine the infection rate of chickens with T. gallinae in Khanh Hoa province using Ziehl Neelsen staining method. A total of 1,095 chicken samples were collected in Dien Khanh, Khanh Vinh, Cam Ranh and Ninh Hoa districts for testing T. gallinae. The tested results showed that there were 248/1,095 positive samples, accounting for 22.6%. Chickens were infected with the protozoan (T. gallinae), having the typical clinical symptoms, such as: anorexia, ruffled feathers, dysphagia, dyspnoea and diarrhea. The gross lesions of diseased chickens were characterized by white to yellow caseous masses, together with inflammatory ulcerated oral cavities and digestive tracts; raised caseous accumulations in the throat. This studied results indicate that further research/surveys need to be carried out in other provinces and on many poultry subjects in order to assess properly the epidemiology of this disease.
