Abstract

This study was conducted from January to December 2022 to determine the prevalence of African swine fever (ASF) disease in Hau Giang province. ELISA and realtime-PCR methods were used to determine the prevalence of ASF virus (ASFV). The studied results showed that ASFV resisted antibodies were detected at a rate of 0.55% in a total of 360 pig serum samples. The ASFV infection rate of pigs by using the realtime-PCR method in Chau Thanh A district was 18.75%, in Vi Thuy district was 39.58%, in Long My district was 41.67%, in Long My town was 39.58%, in Phung
Hiep district was 25.00% and in Nga Bay city was 18.75%. The result of phylogenetic analysis of the field ASFV strains showed that ASFV strains circulating in Hau Giang province were located in the narrow branch of ASFV strains circulating in the Mekong Delta and other provinces in Viet Nam.
All the field ASFV strains belonged to genotype II and were genetically closely related with ASFV strains commonly circulating in Eastern Europe, Russia, China, and other East Asian countries.
