Lumpy skin disease (LSD) is an emerging disease in cattle and is characterized by development of nodules on the skin of animals. This study was carried out to investigate the risk factors associated with LSD on the cattle in Ben Tre province. A cross-sectional and case control study was performed in 240 cattle households (120 households had the cattle with disease and 120 households had the cattle without disease) in eight districts of Ben Tre province from January to April 2023. The studied data were collected using questionnaires administered through personal interviews. To detect the LSD virus, a total of 120 samples were collected from 120 households, and the LSD virus were detected by the realtime-PCR method. The studied results indicated that the positive sample rate with LSD virus was 40.83%. The results of analysing risk factors showed that LSD on cattle in Ben Tre province was closely related to the distance between the cattle households (<100 m), presence of ticks in the farms, the cattle suffered with disease within 2 years, cattle under 6 months old, unvaccinated cattle, the farms did not spray the pesticides and insect repellent periodically (1 time/month).
